Laura is passionate about spiritual renewal, suicide prevention, and creating community; and at The Village Nac is responsible for policies, resident care, and spiritual development. She is a graduate of Syracuse University, is Owner/Architect of a small architectural firm in Nacogdoches, and she is also a past board member of the Nacogdoches Rotary Club, the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce, the Nacogdoches Main Street Advisory Board and currently serves on the board at Millard’s Crossing Historic Village. Laura is the mother of six children and has four grandchildren.
Constance Engelking
Village Nac Co-Founder & On-Site Director

Constance is a faithful advocate for mental health and wears many hats at The Village Nac. She oversees and coordinates a host of day-to-day operational issues to keep projects moving forward and things running smoothly; and is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Nutrition. In 2020, Constance moved to The Village Nac as On-Site Director after leaving her previous position as Manager of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home where she was employed for 13 years. Constance is the mother of four sons and has ten grandchildren.
Cheryl Brady, Lt. Col. (retired)
Board Secretary
Cheryl is a dedicated and faithful teacher of the Word of God, leads two weekly Bible studies for our Village Nac residents, and brings wisdom and experience to our board of directors. She was an ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate who served in the U.S. Army for 28 years as a logistics officer, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Cheryl was raised in El Dorado, Arkansas and lived in the state of Washington before moving to Nacogdoches in 2019 where she serves and blesses her community. Cheryl has published two books, writes monthly newspaper articles, and serves on the board for First Christian Church.
Chris Englert
Board Treasurer
Chris was one of the founders of the Godtell ministry in Nacogdoches where he still teaches once a week and is a great source of practical advice for the Village Nac. He was also involved in interfaith evangelism, was Godtell’s research consultant for interfaith evangelism, worked with John L. Smith ministries in Utah and presently teaches Sunday School and occasionally preaches at Old North Church in Nacogdoches. Chris Went to Florida International University and Lake City Ranger School before coming to Texas in 1969 to work in the timber industry. He was raised in Miami, Florida and has been married to his wife Joanne for 23 years.
Jackie Badders
Committee Chairman
Jackie introduced our Co-Founders, Constance and Laura to each other in 2018 and has been a big supporter of the Village Nac from the very beginning. She brings a good combination of compassion and sound counsel to our board and is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Psychology and Sociology. In the past, she has served as a board member for the Samaritan Center and Young Life, and currently serves on the board of the Solid Foundation. Jackie stays very busy with family responsibilities, having eight children and twelve grandchildren, and is very active in Mosaic Church.
